Icelandair to lease aircraft for Summer season
To replace 737MAX
Icelandair has leased 5 extra airplanes for this Summer season, to replace the fleet of Boeing 737 MAX. From the airline Euroatlantic Icelandair will lease 2 Boeing 767´s, from Privilege Style Icelandair will lease 1 Boeing 757, Icelandair will lease 1 Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 from Air Iceland Connect and from the Charter fleet of Icelandair, 1 Boeing 757 will be used for the scheduled flights of Icelandair.
The leased Boeing 767´s of Euroatlantic will mainly be used on flights to/from Amsterdam, Paris, Copenhagen, Boston and Toronto. The configuration in Economy is 2-4-2 where the configuration on Icelandair´s own Boeing 767´s is 2-3-2. There will be less Saga Premium seats available compared to Icelandair´s own Boeing 767´s, but the Saga Premium seats will be of the ´lie-flat´ type. The leased Boeing 767´s of Euroatlantic have In-Flight Entertainment, just like Icelandair´s own Boeing 767´s, but they are not equipped with Wi-Fi. The on board service will be the same; the Saga Kitchen and Saga Shop Collection will be loaded on the leased Boeing 767´s of Euroatlantic.
The Boeing 757 from Icelandair´s Charter fleet will be used on various destinations and looks exactly like the other Icelandair airplanes, although it has less Saga Premium seats available. This Boeing 757 also does not have In-Flight Entertainment, but an Everhub wireless entertainment system where passengers can connect with via their smartphone or tablet. The on board service will be the same; the Saga Kitchen and Saga Shop Collection will be available.
More information about the Icelandair fleet can be found here.
Information about the leased Boeing 757 of Privilege Style and the Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 of Air Iceland Connect (which will be used on flights to/from Bergen) is currently not yet available.
