Travel Counsellors smashes all time sales record
Travel Counsellors is celebrating after smashing the company’s all-time sales record, breaking through the £5 million barrier 2 weeks ago. January 31st saw the highest figure achieved in a single day with £5.1m in sales, marking the first time Travel Counsellors has surpassed the £5m mark in its company history.
The news comes as the independent travel company enjoyed a record-breaking month in January, seeing a 15% rise in sales on the same period last year.
The company, which has over 1800 self-employed Travel Counsellors running their own travel businesses in seven countries, achieved global sales of £82m last month. In total six out of 10 of the firm’s top sales days were achieved in January 2019.
Travel Counsellors also saw record levels of bookings through its in-house booking platform, Phenix, with £2.2m in sales secured through the company’s bespoke built system on 31 January alone, whilst bookings made through the company’s directly contacted hotels increased by 10%.
Furthermore, the company saw a 40% increase in Travel Counsellor business owners booking TC Packages, which provide the opportunity to act as the tour operator and tailor-make bespoke packages with complex itineraries, supporting further business growth for the company’s franchise owners. As a result, 307 Travel Counsellors celebrated their best ever sales month in January.
The momentous month at Travel Counsellors was supported by a dedicated sales incentive that saw top-selling agents win prizes worth £50,000 in total, including exclusive fam trips to the Seychelles, Iceland and the Caribbean.
The company’s corporate travel arm, Travel Counsellors for Business, also boosted the surge in January sales with a 65% increase on the previous month and an 11% increase on the same period last year. January represented one of Travel Counsellors for Business’ best ever months with sales of £15.2m, second only to October last year, with a third of corporate sales also booked in Phenix.
The record-breaking news was broadcast to the company’s international community with a special edition of its in-house TCTV channel, TCTV.
Travel Counsellors CEO, Steve Byrne, said: “We are pleased with the record-breaking results in January which is down to the hard work, commitment and care shown by our travel counsellors and support colleagues across the globe. We are committed to building a community and platform that enables our travel counsellor business owners to realise their full potential and ultimately be the very best they can be. I am pleased that in January as always, that community, which spans seven countries and no matter the time zone, is always there for our customers and each other, has helped so many Travel Counsellors scale their business further and do amazing things for their customers.
“People are still looking to travel this year but our sales prove they want a positive booking experience from a trusted travel advisor who takes the time to get to know them personally, and who genuinely cares about getting every detail right. It’s a great start to the year for Travel Counsellors, and we’ll continue to ensure that we are supporting the growth of our Travel Counsellors businesses by focussing on creating great customer experiences, championing a company community that’s always there for each other, and by putting people and technology at the heart of everything we do.”
After celebrating her best sales month ever in January, Westbrook and Margate based Gold Travel Counsellor Tanuja Sundra, added, “I’ve taken advantage of the marketing tools available to me to help attract new enquiries and bookings, as well as using Phenix to create bespoke travel itineraries and a truly personalised experience for my clients, one of which was a six-figure booking to the Indian Ocean.”
Travel Counsellors hit the £600m sales mark in October last year, a company milestone which followed a secondary buyout from Private Equity company Vitruvian Partners in June.
