More connections, more benefits, more comfort – ITA Airways in the Lufthansa Group
ITA Airways is a new member of the Lufthansa Group. In future, our mutual customers will benefit from an expanded route network and even more connection options. The Italian airline’s integration opens up new opportunities for everyone. It brings numerous benefits to our passengers, strengthens the entire route network, optimizes travel times – and as a result, offers even greater flexibility in travel planning in the future. Loyalty programs
Since 3 February 2025, Miles & More members can earn and redeem miles on flights with ITA Airways, while Volare members will also be able to earn and redeem points on flights with Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa, and SWISS.
Lounges
From summer 2025, the lounge networks of the Lufthansa Group and ITA Airways will gradually be harmonized. As a result, First and Business Class passengers as well as Miles & More and Volare status customers will have access to additional lounges.
Codeshare agreement
As of summer 2025, codeshare flights between ITA Airways and the Lufthansa Group airlines will be possible on more than 100 routes throughout Europe. Through the merger with ITA Airways, customers will gain access to many more destinations in Italy, improving connectivity and adding more options for all passengers. Further expansion of codeshare flights, including intercontinental routes, will be communicated during the year. You will be able to book ITA Airways flights through the usual Lufthansa Group distribution channels starting 25 February 2025.

The full integration of ITA Airways into the Lufthansa Group will take place in phases. This will also include other key measures such as the change of airline alliance by ITA Airways.
Star Alliance
ITA Airways will be leaving the SkyTeam global airline alliance. The benefits for passengers will remain until the end of April 2025 and they are expected to join Star Alliance in early 2026.
Terminal changes
In order to improve the connection between ITA Airways flights and flights by the other Lufthansa Group airlines, ITA Airways will move from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 at Frankfurt Airport in the summer of 2025. A move is also planned this year at Munich Airport. No changes are planned at the Brussels, Rome, Vienna, and Zurich hubs.
